Full-time Marine Mammal Observer (MMO)

Interested in becoming an MMO? If you have a degree or significant work experience in the marine or biological fields and think that an MMO might be a job for you, then ask yourself these questions:

* Am I prepared to be away from home and out of communications with significant others for long periods of time ranging from 5 – 12 weeks? * Am I mature, professional, and unbiased? * Am I able to interact well with multi-cultural and multi-lingual crews? * Am I able to handle all sorts of sea conditions? * Am I flexible enough to be able to travel at a moments notice or be away longer than expected? * Do I have all the necessary documents for world-wide travel and work? * Am I fluent in standard computer software (Word, Excel, Internet)? * Can I lift at least 50 lbs safely and am I physically capable to maneuver in and around boats, helicopters, personnel transfer systems etc.? * Can I get along with many different types of people? * Can I live in close quarters with many different types of people? * Do I like travel? * Does the sound of a sperm whale or the sight of a spinner dolphin interest and intrigue me?
