Marine Mammal Observer (MMO)
at Ocean Science Consulting (OSC) Ltd in Europe
OSC invites applications for MMO work commencing at the beginning of May (weather dependent) full-time, and without field leave throughout the summer months until autumn (possibly winter, depending on weather), in European waters. Applicants from outside the EU are not eligible for this post unless they have European status. This is an ongoing contract and, subject to performance, there is a strong possibility that repeat work will be awarded annually.
Applicants must have/provide the following:
1. Relevant undergraduate biological degree (preferably marine) or suitable equivalent marine experience;
2. Up-to-date Pan-European offshore medical certificates and up-to-date pan-European offshore survival certificates;
3. STCW-95 1-day survival certificate (this training is desirable, but not a requirement, as it can be provided);
4. MMO and/or PAM training certificates;
5. Ability to identify all European cetacean species;
6. Up-to-date CV in Word format (2003 or earlier version);
7. Full clean British driving licence (European licence acceptable);
8. Details of previous MMO and/or PAM rates, and previous employer's contact details;
9. Able to work in European waters inshore waters (i.e. within 12 NM).
