Marine Mammal Observers (MMO) shall actively assist the vessel’s marine crew in monitoring and reporting the sightings of cetaceans or other protected marine species.
• Wherever necessary according to legislation or recognized industry practice, take positive action to avoid any interference or negative interaction with these animals
• Visual aid of binoculars, report, log, identify and the immediate notification of the in the event of a sighting which requires implementation of a mitigating action.
• Preparation of Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Reports detailing all observations / acoustic detections of Marine Fauna.
• Advice the operation team on the action to be taken when there’s sightings of concerned marine mammal.
• Communicate any issues related to concerned marine mammal to the Project HSE Manager / Project Environmental Lead
• Compile required data for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
• Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meeting with Project HSE Manager / Environmental Lead
• Monitor and record Marine Mammal activity during the course piling activity.
• Monitor and record activity of other species of concern identified by the project environmental impact assessment.
• Ensure all onboard procedures in relation to Marine Mammals conform to expectations set out.
• Compile a log of Marine Mammal sightings and activity.
• Compiling and reporting after each monitoring activities
• Work with Company Representatives and vessel crew as a team.
